Watch And Give

Nowadays it's hard to get the right gift for someone most especially family members whom you are with all the time. Either they have all the things they need or what they want is very expensive for you. But looking online for some practical and useful gifts intended for household use can be worth doing just like this Direct TV package. I don't know if this will work with everybody but like my father-in-law who just loves to watch TV so much or movies thi can be a good gift for him. He can save from his monthly dvd movie rentals and just watch all he wants all day and night long. Another bonus that comes with it is the directv Visa $100 prepaid card that comes along with the package. I know it's like you cheated on giving a gift like this, it's not you paying for the monthly but at least giving this option for them to switch to can further save bucks from their usual bill. The gift is still a winner for me. Consider the $100 gift as your money value gift for them. If you think this can be very useful for them then why not? I can see great sense with this gift for him because soon they (father-in-law & the rest) will move out from our place and Direct TV in CA can still provide continued service for them.

For The Girls

image c/o crazy bargains

This season is all about shopping, well for me! I always love the holiday season when I can just keep myself busy shopping for gifts and some goodies for me too. Just yesterday I browsed around for some gift shopping and was able to get a nice leather belt which is ideal to give guys most especially of older age, special collector's dvd + novel set something you don't get to find everyday a great gift for movie enthusiasts and collectors, bratz doll pack for little girls and jewelry gift set ideal for grannies who still love to glam up. For me more practical gifts also are the best to give like clothes.

I have 2 girls that I shop for, my baby niece and younger sis-in-law. So what are ideal clothes to give them? You can't go wrong with denims / jeans for the bottoms. It's the type of clothe to fit in all season and very durable. Footwear like shoes and socks are very useful too. Sometimes it's hard to choose styles that they will like so I suggest pajamas can be something good to substitute those clothing. just make sure you get the right size or more advisable at least 1 size bigger for kids because they tend to outgrow clothes so fast. Giving a little size allowance will prolong the lifespan of your gift for them to enjoy.

Signature Frame

This might mean extra effort on your part but it's worth doing all the trouble because this gift will be very much appreciated. Simply get the couple's best or favorite picture together and if it's not available, separate pictures will do. Put it in a good portrait frame (can be bought or made to order) then gather signatures and well wishes from all important people of the couple. This kind of personal gift will be one their wedding treasures. Options like picture book / album of friends, families, co-workers, relatives with written greetings or video messages put in all together will be a good personal-made gift.

Wedding Cards (money Insert)

Getting married is quite expensive, therefore one of the best would be "monetary gift". Putting it in a card as money insert will be presentable enough and it can even serve as a souvenir from you to the newlyweds. Getting a good card that suits the couple will also give a higher value to whatever amount you'll give. It's not really how much you give, but how much effort you gave to attend and be part of the event. Gifts are somehow the ethical way of thanking and giving blessings to the newlyweds.

Wedding Suggestions

It's inevitable that at some point we're being invited to weddings. This kind of occasion is very special to the celebrants since it signals the start of their togetherness. Of course it's a proper norm to carry a gift or at least send a gift if you can't attend. Not every couple has gift registry to assure that the gifts they'll get are what they need or hoping to receive. Don't think of this like they are being demanding or asking too much from the attendees. This kind of way is best for them not to receive "repeated gifts" therefore, practicality.

There are alot of factors to consider in giving gifts most especially for those who don't have registry like:
  • Do they prefer to receive monetary gift?
  • Do they have a house already? Moving in? Buying a new one? Renting?
  • What are the things they need after the wedding?
  • Are they expecting a baby already?
These questions will eventually lead to clues on what you can give the couple. If you are close enough with them, you can simply ask what they need or prefer to receive from you. Take note that we're not just talking about price tags here, your presence will be very much appreciated than any gift.

Mother's Day Gift Guide

Mother's day is fast approaching and most of us would want to make our moms and grandmas feel so special on this day. Here are some simple gifts to give...

  • For moms who work all day at home doing all housechores and babysitting, it will be great to give them a little break or day off. Offer some help in the kitchen to lessen her chores or make her some treats. Something out of your effort will truly make her happy.
  • For moms and grandmas who love to knit, crochet, quilt.... craft items like yarns, threads and other things that you know drive their interest will be nice to give.
  • Brooch comes in different styles and designs. This can be good for working moms who are most of the times wearing corporate suits.
  • If you wish your gift to be more for the entire family, you may plan a small picnic or ask them to go to your favorite place. Pack some sandwiches and grab on foods to go with your family stroll. Nothing beats spending some quality time for the family.
  • For moms who just love to read, try scanning through the bookstores and find the perfect bookfor her. A collection of quotes and inspiration for moms will make a good gift for her.
  • Some good bonding with moms isn't a bad idea at all. Hit up the salon or spa and just let her relax for a day.
  • Hand mom or grandma a stem of rose, definitely a sweet gift for them. It doesn't need to be a big bouquet or some expensive flowers, a thought of you remembering them on their special day is more important than anything.
  • Look in your family albums and get your mom's most favorite photo. It can be her solo shot or the one with her dearest person (can be dad, mom, friend, daughter, son..etc) and put it in a nice photo frame. Having her most precious captured moments on frame surely will put a smile on her face.
  • To keep her jewels and accessories, a jewelry box will make a good gift.
  • Print mom a card or make a special one for her. Express your creativity and pour out your feelings, thank her for being such a great mom.
  • Dial the phone, call dad and let mom have some extra time talking to him. This is ideal for parents who are live apart because of dad having to work somewhere. Calling long distance is quite a pain in the budget, save some pennies and get a callcard even the cheapest one so that they will have the chance to hear each other. But for those who have their moms somewhere, call her and greet. Ask how she's been and make her feel always remembered.
  • Bring mom or grandma to theoptical shop, get them a new pair of eyeglasses or reading glasses.
  • New beddings can be another useful gift because most moms love to dress up their beds.
  • Some bakewares or kitchen items will be nice since moms spend alot of time in the kitchen.
  • Bath set or home spa set is a good gift too. If you intend to give mom something to pamper herself and yet your budget isn't that much to get her booked to a spa, these can still serve the same purpose. Better yet if you have some time and you're willing to do much effort to please mom, give her a personal massage or foot spa service.
